Meg Comerford has lived in Hamburg for most of her life. She grew up in Lakeview and has worked as a Special Education teacher in the Frontier School District for over 20 years (teaching at Blasdell Elementary, Frontier Middle School, Cloverbank Elementary, and now Frontier High School). She and her husband Brian live in the Village of Hamburg and have four children.
Many of you know Meg from her extensive community involvement.
In 2019, while attending a Town meeting, Meg first heard about the proposal for an asphalt plant in the center of town. She was concerned that this plant would be near schools, businesses, and homes. Meg joined with other dedicated residents and quickly learned everything she could about zoning laws, environmental regulations, and local government procedures. As a founding member of the group Hamburg Residents Against the Asphalt Plant, she mobilized the community, organized thousands of supporters, and successfully fought to keep the plant away from residential areas.
This experience showed Meg the importance of smart long-term planning in the Town of Hamburg. In 2020, Meg was appointed to the Town Planning Board where she worked diligently to maintain the character of our neighborhoods.
In 2021 Meg was elected to the Hamburg Town Board. As your representative, Meg has worked hard to collaborate with other board members—regardless of party affiliation. She is committed to listening to residents and making decisions that serve the community as a whole.
