About Meg

Meg Comerford has lived in Hamburg for most of her life.  She grew up in Lakeview and has worked as a Special Education teacher in the Frontier School District for nearly 20 years (teaching at Blasdell Elementary, Frontier Middle School, and Cloverbank Elementary).  She and her husband Brian live in the Village of Hamburg and have four children who attend Hamburg Schools.  She is a softball coach, girl-scout troop leader, union member, PTA member, and a member of the Hamburg Town Planning Board.  Many of you know Meg from her extensive community involvement.

In 2019, while attending a Town meeting, Meg first heard about the proposal for an asphalt plant.  She was concerned that this plant would be near schools, businesses, and homes.  Meg joined with other dedicated residents and quickly learned everything she could about zoning laws, environmental regulations, and local government procedures.  As a founding member of the group Hamburg Residents Against the Asphalt Plant, she mobilized the community, organized thousands of supporters, and successully fought to keep the plant away from residential areas.

This experience showed Meg the importance of smart long-term planning in the Town of Hamburg.  She was appointed to the Town Planning Board in 2020, and has worked diligently to maintain the character of our neighborhoods.

As a member of the Town Council, Meg will continue to seek input from community residents and local businesses.  She will listen to your concerns, research issues, and work hard to make smart decisions that serve the community as a whole.
